Why would I lose control over my profile and comments after reactivation? ?

I made a comment on a friend's picture in Facebook. I deactivated and then shortly reactivated my account. After reactivation, I could not delete my comments made prior to deactivation. Is this because a new profile was created & a new digital footprint? I followed Facebook's steps to reactivate a new account through my email. Why would I lose control over my account when friends of mine have gone through the same process and kept their profile control? How can I fix this? This is frustrating!
