What is the best way to keep pets away from Christmas trees and ornaments? Help!!?

We have a 1 year old puppy and this is her first Christmas with us (I think) and I am afraid that she will get at the tree when we are at work. She is out roaming the house during the daytime, and I don't want to have to cage her (she's our extra security)
