How can I stop liking my friend?

I have two questions: I have a crush on one of my friends and I don't want to ruin our friendship, but its really hard to stop liking him especially whenever i see him he lays all over me and wants to listen to everything i have going on. I don't know what to do! first question :what do you think i should do? Second question: is it usual for guys to stare at you all the time and want to snuggle with you if hes just a friend? i don't know if he likes me or he's just being affectionate.
